Welcome Principal Hurley!

Goodbye, Mrs. Wenn (we'll miss you!), and welcome our new principal, Mrs. Karen Hurley!

On June 15, 2010, the LCUSD Governing Board approved Mrs. Karen Hurley as our new principal. She will be taking over for Mrs. Wenn, who has accepted the principalship of LCHS 7/8. A brief bio of Mrs. Hurley was published in the La Canada Unified School District's June newsletter. While we will miss Mrs. Wenn very much, we wish her all the best at the middle school, and we look forward to meeting and working with Mrs. Hurley.

Summer School Promotion at Once Upon A Time Bookstore

Buy your summer reading at Once Upon a Time Bookstore in Montrose, and raise money for the Palm Crest PTA! From June 19 through August 29, Once Upon a Time will donate 10% of total receipts deposited in a specially marked "Palm Crest Elementary" can in the store. The school that buys the most books during that time frame will also win a special author visit during the upcoming school year. So stop by Once Upon a Time throughout the summer, fill up the Palm Crest can and help PCR come out on top!

Spartan Girls Lacrosse Summer Camp 2010

The La Canada High School Girls' Lacrosse Team is organizing a three-day Girls' Lacrosse Summer Camp to be held Monday, June 21 to Wednesday, June 23, 2010, from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. It is open to incoming 6th to 12th grade girls. No prior experience is necessary. The squads will be coached by college coaches, and players will be grouped accordingly from beginner to varsity levels. Cost is $125. Lunch is included.

Mrs. Nelson’s Book Fair Is Coming!

Palm Crest will hold its annual spring Book Fair from Monday, May 24 through Thursday, May 27. The PCR multipurpose room will be open daily from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm for shopping. On Thursday, May 27, we will be open additional hours from 6:00 -9:00 pm so that you may shop during Open House.

Look for a yellow Credit Authorization Form in your child's Thursday folder. This form allows your child to make purchases with a credit card for a pre-set dollar amount you allow. Please fill out a form for EACH of your children. If you need extra, there are more forms in the Palm Crest office.

REMEMBER: your purchases help support our PTA! Palm Crest keeps 20% of all dollars spent at the Book Fair. It is a great time to stock up on gifts and summer reading for your children. If you have any questions, please direct them to Allison Laskey. Thanks for your support!
